A Summer and Season of Celebration and Recovery! Greetings to all! What a month we have had, and a time to reflect and look back at some of the highlights. We did our 2nd Obstacle Course, AKA The Recovery Race at Rustenburg Treatment center and it was a wonderful success. Cape Town’s top treatment facilities all did their best to take home the first prize of a weekend away with the Beans Bus, but unfortunately, there could be only one, and top honour went to the team from Tharagay Place, their prize was a trip to Rivierplaas Campsite on the banks of the Breede River for some RnR! 2nd Place went to the Rustenburg team who won a ten pin Bowling day, and 3rd went to Liberty, who won the spirit award. We then took a few brave adventurers on a 4 day trip up the Garden Route. Weather was in our favour and we got to enjoy the beaches and activities and overcome many a challenge and fear. A highlight on this trip for me was actually spotting some Elephant poop in the Knysna forest, weird I know, but proof that the Knysna Elephant is alive , how close it must have been to us! Also some wonderful fishing in Natures Valley set a new Beans Bus record of 5 fish in under half hour. Of course for some the highlight was the bungee, well done Zahid and Harry! Big up to everyone for making it a special trip. Then the Beans Bus was off to Beaverlac for a weekend away with a great group of folks. On Saturday we hiked to the Totem Poles and really took it all in. Also did a bit of free climbing that was a great little challenge. Recovery was strong with some amazing campfire shares and fireside chats. We did a few day activities, including a Yoga Surf day with our special import Sinclair Smith, as well as a Lions head hike and a Camps Bay beach day. The Beans Bus Bowling League is also still rolling and growing with some new high scores and some very competitive action! Come and join every Thursday night. As always the trips were a great success and thank you to everyone who participated in making them so special. A big Beans Bus thank you to Rustenburg, The Tharagay Group, Highlands, Liberty, The living House and all the individuals and amzing people who have made each event and activity this year so special. As we head into the New Year would just like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and also that this coming year is one in which we all grow in our recovery, develop our relationships with ourselves and our families and friends, and celebrate life and love. Recovery is a precious gift, enjoy it. Season’s Greetings from the Beans Bus!
