Breede river, blissful beauty, restful souls and boerewors rolls!
An incredible weekend it was, full of great times, awesome smiles, compassion, wonderful shares and more. Friday night set up was smooth sailing, tents up and fires on the go as we enjoyed our first night in an amazing campsite. Slight chills in the air didn’t stop the intrepid fisherman as we rigged up and set our lines. Unfortunately the first night the moon wasn’t in our favour, and seems like they were waiting for breakfast, when…a new Beans Bus record was set for biggest fish, proud to say it was me, a nice sized Carp, guessing that Alex was too busy teaching DJ how to catch trees. (Picture to follow!) The Saturday will go down in Beans Bus history as one of our proudest days. A river adventure, and an adventure it was. From mid paddle swims to a busy bridge pullover and some narrow channels navigated it was a great way to spend the day. The day was ended with a lunch on a houseboat and a little laze about in the sun. Sunday was the day of the very first inaugural Beans Bus Foofie Surf comp. Our judges took their jobs very seriously from the side-lines, as the competition was fierce, but the big winner was Lara who on her 2nd try had a flawless run to victory, Thomas was a close runner-up with great style and Jason the award for participation, AKA not breaking your back when falling award! Lara: Once again awesome seeing you on another trip, congrats on your milestone, and see you soon to keep the foofie surf champion title! DJ: Mr Fire-mon! If you not fishing for trees you burning them! Thanks for the good times bro, and being an awesome camera man for us. Aunty Liz: You are incredible, really, cannot believe how well you do on these trips, you are a source of inspiration to us all. PS, your little duck dive off the boat will always bring a huge smile to me! Jo Jo: You rock! Love having you on our trips and hoping this one was the “breath of fresh” air you really needed! Jason: For a first timer he did amazing! Was really great getting to know you, and super impressed by your new trick off the foofie, should copyright that one! Jokes aside, well done. Thomas AKA Mr Future Aunty Liz AKA The Riddle Guy: Well done in participating in everything and being such a part of it. Your help, humour and enthusiasm was highly appreciated. Rick and Alex AKA Beans Bus Boys: Amazing job. Rick the food was world class, Alex well done on becoming a river dog…well, more of a river puppy, but we will get you there. Lastly a huge thanks to JB and Danelle from Rivierplaas just outside Worcester, who really were a massive force in allowing us to enjoy there amazing little piece of paradise. Till next time!

Wow, what a stunning weekend with beautiful people in a beautiful place! Waking up by a misty river, drinking coffee by the fireplace while the birds are chirping away was exactly what I needed to get a break from the hectic city life. From morning meetings to tipping over in my canoe and lunching on a house boats deck, I would do all of it again! My personal highlight was definitely the FuFi surfing though, and I’m proud to hold the title in the female division. Cheers David, Rick and Alex for so much fun and grounding - can’t wait for the next one!
